My work is deeply rooted in a concept-driven approach, blending archetypal forms, material relationships, and personal narratives into a sculptural language. Rather than merely reacting to external influences, I strive to distill the essence of impressions, allowing the artwork to grow organically from the dialogue between myself, the material, and the underlying thought—be it ironic, deeply personal, or an abstract emotion that seeks expression.
I do not perceive sculptures as finished, artificial objects, detached from their creation process. Instead, they are born, shaped, and evolve—inviting the audience into an interpretative process of their own. My responsibility as an artist is to reflect on contemporary realities, to process events, and to make them tangible. Art, in its highest form, should unveil the hidden, challenge perceptions, and propose alternative viewpoints.
Stone, in particular, is more than a medium to me, it is my fetish. It embodies slow permanence in an increasingly fast-paced world where trends and ideas often have the half-life of a reality show. Sculpting in stone is an act of resistance, an exploration of endurance, and an intimate confrontation with time itself.
At FAC – Fronteacciaiocromato, I embrace experimental and interdisciplinary approaches, pushing sculpture beyond traditional boundaries. My artistic practice spans a wide range of expressive techniques, including sculpture, painting, screen printing, installations, and performance-based projects.
I confess that sculpture, especially subtractive processes, continues to be a radical act in contemporary art, where additions are often more celebrated than reductions. Nevertheless, I insist on seeing sculpture on equal footing with plastic arts, challenging its limitations and expanding its vocabulary.
“He that is without sin, cast the first art dealer.” – Thank you, Jo.
