With our series Cruxials, we as the collective FAC (Fronte Acciaio Cromato) have deliberately created a work that provokes and pushes boundaries. Our goal is to expose the social contradictions, hypocrisy, and hidden depths that we all too often ignore. Choosing Luca Morini, known in Italy as “Don Euro,” as Since 2014, Artstudio F.A.C. (FronteAcciaioCromato) has been an essential presence at Carrara Studi Aperti, an annual event that opens the doors to Carrara’s vibrant network of art and craft workshops.

This renowned initiative allows visitors to explore the depth of the city’s traditions and culture, immersing themselves in Carrara’s identity as the “City of Marble.” Carrara has a worldwide reputation for its historic expertise in marble craftsmanship and has evolved into a lively center for modern artistic experimentation. Carrara Studi Aperti celebrates this dual identity by offering a stage for both traditional and avant-garde artistic expressions, showcasing Carrara as a city that honors its legacy while also nurturing a thriving, innovative art scene.

Artstudio F.A.C., founded by artists Stefanie Krome and Dominik Stahlberg, embodies a unique vision of artistic rebellion and independence. The name, which translates to “Chrome Steel Front,” is a metaphor for the studio’s bold, nonconformist approach to art. F.A.C. seeks to create a space where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary art, allowing both forms to coexist and inform each other in ways that challenge conventional boundaries.

This concept of bridging the old and the new, rooted in the artisanal and artistic spirit of Carrara, is what visitors can witness up close during Carrara Studi Aperti. Stepping into the workshop of F.A.C. offers an intimate look into the creative processes of the artists, allowing an authentic glimpse into the inspiration, vision, and skill that goes into each piece.

During Carrara Studi Aperti, Artstudio F.A.C. opens its doors to the public, providing an immersive experience that allows visitors to witness the transformation of ideas into tangible artistic expressions. This access to the artists’ daily work routine reveals the fusion of color, form, and material that culminates in the creation of unique works of art.

Carrara Studi Aperti features an extensive array of art forms, from sculpture and painting to theater, ceramics, and multimedia installations, each contributing to the preservation and evolution of Carrara’s cultural heritage. By encompassing such a broad spectrum of creative disciplines, the event captures the spirit of Carrara, where artistic tradition and contemporary practice are continuously intertwined.

Carrara Studi Aperti is more than a cultural event; it is an active project that plays a vital role in keeping Carrara’s identity alive, fostering dialogue between art, craftsmanship, and the community. Recognized as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Carrara Studi Aperti invites thousands of visitors each year to experience the unique energy of Carrara and to admire the artworks of local creators.
