Created by the artist collective F.A.C. – Fronte Acciaio Cromato, this “beach” doesn’t offer refreshing swims, but instead exfoliating reflections.
Here, the Pinokels (half-statues, half-caricatures) sunbathe with unapologetic nonchalance among imaginary seaweed, children’s sand toys, and improbably placed parasols. The surrounding landscape is sculpted with surgical irony: a wellness resort for drifting souls, floating between contradictions and paradoxes.
Once a river tied to the extraction of precious marble, the Carriona now mirrors the identity of an entire city, a flow of memories, transformations, and sedimented histories. Where once spring water and hope flowed, now murky waters pass by, bearing symbols waiting to be deciphered.
But Carriona Beach does not accuse, it transfigures.
It does not denounce, it alludes.
It does not sanitize, it sculpts thoughts.
The Pinokels do not look, they reflect.
They do not protest, they pose.
They do not explain, they stage an improbable vacation inside a reality we all know, but rarely want to see.
Carriona Beach is this: an ephemeral shore between resin and reality,
where even dystopia catches a tan.
Fronteacciaiocromato stands for art that does not remain confined to museums but lives on the streets, and can be experienced by everyone.
