As the artist collective Fronteacciaiocromato, our goal with “Eva” was not just to create a mere sculpture but a powerful symbol of rebellion and individuality. Our friend, the singer Eva Marabotti, [Eva is an Italian singer and artist from Carrara, Tuscany. She has been active in the music scene since 2012]
Eva is portrayed here, embodies a modern icon for us, one that radiates both vulnerability and strength and defies the conventions that constantly try to confine us. Our “Cruxial,” the cross, which is well-known in traditional art and church as a symbol of sacrifice, has been consciously reinterpreted.
The axe, the Battle Axe that Eva holds in her hand, stands for resistance and the power to stand up against oppression and jerks. She is not a passive figure, not a victim. Never. Instead, she is active, present, and determined to do bold things and spread a zest for life. Her slight smile and relaxed posture reveal that she is aware of this role and embraces it confidently.
We chose to leave the sculpture in a rough, earthy texture to emphasize her groundedness and authenticity. She is not flawless but real, authentic, like life itself, which often leaves ugly marks and still makes us stronger. Giving up is not an option. Never.
For us at Fronteacciaiocromato, Eva is an expression of self-empowerment and individuality. She stands for all those who assert themselves in their uniqueness and resist society’s expectations with heads held high. With “Eva,” we wanted to capture a moment where the personal meets the symbolic and creates a new, contemporary icon.
And she is our friend who thanked us for her replica of the work with a great concert in our studio in Carrara. Defining oneself in the world and breaking free from predetermined roles is a high and important value to us, one we defend with teeth and claws! Always.
